Round One Results of the 30th Alabama State Senior Four-Ball & 6th State Super-Senior Four-Ball Championships

MONTGOMERY, AL (October 11, 2024) – Round One results from the 30th Alabama State Senior Four-Ball and State Super-Senior Four-Ball Championships hosted at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, AL, October 11-13, 2024.

Defending Champions, Jeff Taylor of Montgomery + Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery lead the 30th State Senior Four-Ball Championship finishing the day eight-under par 64. The duo sits two strokes under their nearest competition. 

The following sides sit T2, each posting scores of six-under par 66 today: 
  • Andy Stewart of Selma + Paul Garner of Tuscaloosa
  • Danny Spybey of Troy + Joey Holley of Spanish Fort
  • Robert Nelson of Fairhope + Walker Grant of Alexander City
The 6th Alabama State Super-Senior Four-Ball Championship leaders at the end of Round One are David Head of Sterrett and Randy Smith of Childersburg. The team shot a combined six-under par 66.

The following sides sit T2, posting scores of five-under par 67 today:
  • Tom Davis of Hoover + Tom Jungkind of Hoover
  • Hamp Andrews of Daphne + Earle Bidez of Birmingham
  • Harry Kirkland of Hartselle + Dana Amberson of Decatur 
The second round will begin tomorrow morning, Saturday, October 12th at 8:00 a.m.

These Championships are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.

AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
