2024 Alabama All-State Junior Teams and Junior Players of the Year Announced

HOOVER, AL (Sep. 24, 2024) – The Alabama Golf Association (AGA) announces the Alabama All-State Teams and Junior Players of the Year for 2024. This is the eighth year of the awards being presented by the Alabama Golf Association.
 
All-State teams are awarded based on the Alabama State Junior Golf Rankings System, which awards points per event based on the number of participants in the event combined with the overall strength of the field. These tournaments must also meet additional requirements to be a sanctioned rankings event. Teams are annually based on the player performance over the past 12 months from September 1 through August 31.
 
All-State team members, the Junior Boys Player of the Year and the Junior Girls Player of the Year winners will be honored with other Alabama State Players of the Year in early 2025.
 
2024 Alabama Girls All-State Teams

Girls First Team:

Scarlett Schremmer, 2025, of Birmingham is a senior in high school who is home-schooled. A standout on the national stage, Scarlett qualified for the Round of 16 in both the U.S. Women’s Amateur and U. S. Girls’ Junior Championships. A member of the inaugural United States National Developmental Team, Schremmer also qualified for match play in the 122nd Women’s North & South Amateur. Scarlett finished tied-sixth in the 109th Southwestern Amateur and won The Dye Junior Invitational. Schremmer is the number one ranked junior in Alabama and the 2024 Alabama Girls Junior Player of the Year. 
 
Klare Jamison, 2027, of Huntsville is a sophomore at Grissom High School. Klare garnered a second-place finish at the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship with two sub-par rounds over 54-holes. In addition, Jamison earned four top five finishes in AJGA events, including a victory at the TaylorMade Preview at Bentwater Yacht & Country Club in Texas. In SJGT and HJGT events, Klare had three additional runner-up finishes and finished 2nd in the AHSAA 7A State Championships as an individual. Klare also helped pace Alabama to victory in the Southern Junior Cup in August.
 
Frances Brown, 2025, of Mobile is a senior at UMS-Wright Preparatory School. Frances won the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship with rounds of 69-67-67 to earn an exemption into the U. S. Girls’ Junior in California and qualified for match play in the inaugural Alabama Women’s State Match Play Championship. Brown defended her AHSAA 7A Girls State Championship individual title and led her squad to team victory. Frances won the Tommy Moore Memorial at TPC Louisiana and is a verbal commit to Auburn University.
 
Anna Christian Beeker, 2027, of Tuscaloosa is a sophomore at Tuscaloosa Academy. Beeker earned a place in the semifinals in the inaugural Alabama Women’s State Match Play Championship and placed tied-ninth in the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship. Within the calendar year, Anna Christian competed twice on the professional Epson Tour at the Tuscaloosa Toyota Classic, making the cut once, and won the AJGA’s Visit Tuscaloosa Junior Championship. Beeker garnered three other top nine finishes in AJGA events and eighth place at the SJGT Magnolia Grove Junior Classic.

Molly Brown Davidson, 2024, of Springville is a graduate of St. Clair County Virtual Prep Academy. Davidson emerged victorious in the 72-hole Women’s Dixie Amateur with scores of 74-74-68-72 in December. Molly Brown also finished T-23 at the World Junior Girls Golf Championship at Brampton Golf Club (Ontario, Canada) and paced Team United States to a fifth-place finish in the team competition. Davidson is a freshman on the golf team at the University of Alabama.
  
Girls Second Team:  

Julie Waldo, 2026, of Prattville is a junior at Alabama Christian Academy. Julie finished tied-fourth in the 92nd Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship with scores of 75-71-75 at Anniston Country Club and fifth in the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship. Waldo also garnered victories at the Junior Golf Alabama Kickoff, the 52nd Annual Pigeon Dove Junior, and won the individual AHSAA 1A-3A State Championship title. Julie represented Team Alabama in the Southern Junior Cup, and helped lead the team to its eighth consecutive victory.

Christine Chang, 2024, of Auburn is a graduate of Lee Scott Academy. Christine qualified for the Round of 32 at the U. S. Girls’ Junior Championship and finished fourth in the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship with scores of 72-72-75. Christine is a freshman on the golf team at Columbia University in New York.

Courtney Grace, 2030, of Birmingham is a homeschooled student through Alabama Connections Academy. Courtney earned a third-place finish in the 5th Alabama State 13 & Under Junior Championship and finished tied-seventh in the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship. Grace garnered victories in five Birmingham Golf Association events, including the BGA Junior Championship, and five top twenty-five finishes with the AJGA. Courtney helped lead Alabama to victory in the Southern Junior Cup for the eighth consecutive time.

Polly Kate McCrackin, 2025, of Hoover is a senior at Hayden High School. McCrackin finished tied-eighth in the 92nd Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship and qualified for the Quarterfinals in the inaugural Alabama Women’s State Match Play Championship. Polly Kate also finished tied-ninth in the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship. McCrackin won the individual AHSAA 4A-5A State Championship title and represented Team Alabama in the Southern Junior Cup.

Katelyn Foster, 2024, of Mobile is a graduate of Baker High School. Katelyn finished tied-seventh in the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship, advanced to match play in the inaugural Alabama Women’s State Match Play Championships and finished T-27 in the 92nd Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship. Foster earned six top ten finishes in Junior Golf Alabama and SJGT events. A representative of Team Alabama in the 2024 Southern Junior Cup, Katelyn is a freshman on the golf team at the University of South Alabama.

Girls Third Team:

Kate Ha, 2026, of Auburn is a junior at Auburn High School. Ha shot 76-67-73 to finish third in the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship and qualified for the U. S. Girls’ Junior Championship in California. Kate played in seven AJGA events highlighted by a fifth place finish at the Huntsville Junior and  tied-twelfth at the Junior at Canebrake.

Evelyn Tankersley, 2025, of Montgomery is a senior at Alabama Christian Academy and committed to Troy University. Tankersley methodically worked her way through the field to earn Finalist honors in the inaugural Alabama Women’s State Match Play Championship. In addition, Evelyn finished T-17 at the 92nd Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship and T-24 at the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship. Tankersley won the Holiday Junior Classic at Pine Tree Country Club and had eight additional top seventeen finishes in AJGA, SJGT, and AJGO events.

Esha Gupta, 2025, of Auburn is a senior at Auburn High School and verbally committed to Georgia State University. Following AJGO victories at Arrowhead and Grand National, Esha finished tied-ninth at the 61st Alabama State Girls Junior Championship and tied-fourth at the Alabama PGA Junior Championship. Top eleven finishes with the AJGA at the Huntsville Junior (T-11) and Atlanta Classic (T-10) added to Gupta’s playing resume, which also showed four top seven finishes with the SJGT.

Chloe Ruble, 2024, of Athens is a graduate of Lindsey Lane High School. A Quarterfinalist at the inaugural Alabama Women’s State Match Play Championship, Ruble finished T-14 at the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship and earned a 26th place finish in the 92nd Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship. Play on the SJGT resulted in one victory (2023 University of Georgia Invitational) and three other top seven finishes. Chloe is a freshman on the golf team for the University of Alabama at Birmingham after representing Alabama in the 2024 Southern Junior Cup.

Shiloh Gilbert, 2027, of Millbrook is a sophomore at Ezekiel Academy. Shiloh earned a sixteenth-place finish in the 92nd Alabama Women’s State Amateur and a sixth-place finish at the 61st Alabama Girls State Junior Championship. Victories at the Junior Golf Tour Final presented by Smylie Kaufman and AJGO’s Capital Hill and Notah Begay Qualifier solidified Gilbert’s standing.
 
2024 Alabama Boys All-State Teams

Boys First Team:

Tyler Watts, 2026, of Huntsville is a junior at Grissom High School. At the U. S. Junior Amateur, Tyler finished second after 36-holes of stroke play and methodically worked his way through successive match play rounds to reach the Finals, where he finished as runner-up. Watts followed-up his victory in December’s Jones Cup Junior Invitational with top four finishes in the 108th Alabama State Amateur (T4), The Elite Invitational (2nd), the Terra Cotta Invitational (2nd), and tied-second at the AJGA’s Mayakoba Invitational. With high school teammate Barak Erwin, Watts won the 42nd Alabama State Four-Ball Championship in May to add to his collection of AGA titles, and Watts competed in the 124th U. S. Amateur at Hazeltine. A member of the inaugural United States National Junior Team, Tyler is the number one ranked junior in the State of Alabama and the 2024 Alabama Golf Association Junior Boys Player of the Year.
 
Bailey Sutter, 2026, of Vinemont is a junior at West Point High School. In June, Sutter shot a final round 68 to seize the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship by four strokes at the demanding RTJ Golf Trail at Silver Lakes. One month later, Bailey advanced to the Round of 16 at the U. S. Junior Amateur at historic Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan. Rounding-out his summer, Sutter earned top seven finishes at the Southern Junior Championship (6th), AJGA Junior Players Championship (T-7), Visit Tuscaloosa Junior (2nd), and the Justin Thomas Junior Championship (T-4). Bailey is a verbal commitment to the University of Alabama.
 
Jon Ed Steed, 2025, of Enterprise is a senior at Enterprise High School. Steady play throughout the past year earned Jon Ed a spot on the First Team and top ten finishes in two Alabama State Championships highlighted Steed’s summer. On two difficult layouts, Steed finished tied-fourth at the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and tied-eighth at the 108th Alabama State Amateur. Steed also finished 2nd at the AJGA’s Team TaylorMade Invitational and tied-eighth at the AJGA Junior at Innisbrook. Jon Ed is a verbal commitment to Vanderbilt University.
 
Jackson Skinner, 2025, of Birmingham is a senior at Mountain Brook High School. Victory in the AJGA’s Babygrande Atlanta Classic in July highlighted Skinner’s summer, but Jackson also earned top ten finishes in the NW Arkansas Junior (6th) and the Atlanta Classic presented by UHY (T8) on the AJGA circuit. Skinner competed in the 108th Alabama State Amateur and the Southern Junior Championship in Tallahassee, FL. Jackson is a verbal commitment to Mississippi State University.

Chase Kyes, 2025, of Birmingham is a senior at Spain Park High School and committed to Troy University. Chase defended his individual AHSAA 7A State Championship title with a single shot victory and led his squad to the team title. Medalist at U. S. Junior Amateur qualifier at Country Club of Birmingham in May, Chase earned a place in the Round of 64 at the U. S. Junior Amateur in July and had top twenty finishes in the Team TaylorMade Invitational (8th) and 2023 The Players Championship (T18) on the AJGA circuit. Chase is a verbal commitment to the University of Alabama.
 
Boys Second Team:
 
Thomas Crane, 2025, of Mobile is a senior at UMS-Wright Preparatory School. Crane finished third in the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and third in the AHSAA 6A State Championship. In addition, Thomas finished tied-third at the AJGA’s Visit Tuscaloosa Junior Championship and tied-second in the SJGT’s Peninsula Junior Classic.
 
Jonathan Peters, 2024, of Homewood graduated from Homewood High School in 2024. Jonathan earned a tied-fourth place in the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and finished fourth in the AHSAA 6A State Championship. Peters competed in the 108th Alabama State Amateur and earned five victories on the Birmingham Golf Association circuit between May and July. Peters helped lead Alabama to its eighth consecutive victory in the Southern Junior Cup in August.
 
Jack Lowery, 2026, of Birmingham is a junior at Homewood High School. Lowery won the AHSAA 6A State Championship individual title and led his team to a 14-stroke victory in the team championship. Jack finished tied-seventh in the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship. Lowery earned four top five finishes on the AJGA and SJGT circuits as well as top eight finishes in the Alabama PGA Junior Championship (T5), Future Masters (T4), and the Gator Invitational (8th).

Andrew Hinson, 2025, of Huntsville is a senior at Randolph School. Plagued by injury, Hinson’s 2024 season was highlighted by a second-place finish at the AJGA’s Atlanta Classic in June where he fired a third-round 66 to close on the eventual victor. Two top twenty finishes at the Visit Tuscaloosa Junior Championship (T8) and the Mizuno/Greyson Sigg Junior (T15) rounded-out Andrew’s summer. Hinson is a verbal commitment to the University of Alabama.
 
Blake Cornell, 2025, of Daphne is a senior at Daphne High School. Cornell finished tied-seventh in the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship in June. Blake earned victories in the Mobile Junior Amateur and the Junior Golf Alabama Kickoff on the Junior Golf Alabama circuit as well as a playoff win in the SJGT’s Patton Kizzire Junior. In addition to helping Alabama win its eighth consecutive Southern Junior Cup in August, Cornell had seven other top ten finishes on the SJGT.
 
Boys Third Team:
 
Will Drake, 2025, of Cullman is a senior at Cullman High School. In June, Drake’s even-par scores in the first and final rounds of 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship earned him a tied-fourth finish. Will also finished tied-fifth in the Alabama PGA Junior Championship and had seven top ten finishes on the AJGA and SJGT circuits. Drake helped lead the Alabama squad to an eighth consecutive victory in the Southern Junior Cup in August. Drake is verbally committed to Samford University. 
 
Ben Shedd, 2024, of Cullman is a graduate of Cullman High School. Shedd earned two victories in the 2024 season at the Future Masters in Dothan and the Lee Hodges Junior Classic on the SJGT, and he also finished second in the AHSAA 6A State Championship as an individual. Ben accumulated four additional top fifteen finishes on the SJGT and AJGO circuits, including a second-place finish at the AGJO Cross Creek event. Shedd is a freshman on the golf team at Jacksonville State University.
 
Hudson Lawson, 2025, of Haleyville is a senior at Haleyville High School. Hudson’s individual victory in the AHSAA 4A State Championship fueled his squad to a team title by 12 strokes. Lawson also emerged as the winner in the AJGA’s Visit Tuscaloosa Junior Championship with three sub-70 rounds at Indian Hills Country Club. Hudson is a verbal commit to Louisiana State University.
 
Gus Darnall, 2026, of Vestavia Hills is a junior at Vestavia Hills High School. Two under-par rounds led Darnall to a second-place finish in the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship. In addition to a tied-third finish at the Alabama PGA Junior Championship, Gus recorded three top eight finishes with the SJGT and earned tied-ninth at the Future Masters in Dothan. Darnall was a member of the victorious Team Alabama in the 2024 Southern Junior Cup.
 
Michael Crocker, 2024, of Mobile is a 2024 graduate of McGill-Toolen High School. Crocker finished tied-seventh at the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and T47 at the 108th Alabama State Amateur. A competitor in the Southern Junior Championship in Tallahassee, FL, Michael finished tied-eighth in the AJGA’s Visit Tuscaloosa Junior Championship. Crocker is a freshman on the golf team at the University of Alabama.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)   
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 30,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
