Mac Steltenpohl and Merritt Daniel Claim Victory at the 5th Alabama State 13 & Under Junior Championship

BESSEMER, AL (July 25, 2024) – Final Round Results of the 5th Alabama State 13 & Under Junior Championship held at Bent Brook Golf Course in Bessemer, AL, July 24-25, 2024.

Mac Steltenpohl of Dothan claimed the Champion title at the 5th Alabama State 13 & Under Junior Championship within the boys overall division. Steltenpohl concluded the championship with an overall score of nine-under 133.

Ford Birchall of Birmingham completed the week in second place, with a score of six-under 136. Finishing third, Keegan Richardson of Athens posted a six-under 136.


Merritt Daniel of Trussville was crowned a champion for the girls overall division after finishing the week five-under, 137 to win gold. 

Reese Powell of Birmingham was just one stroke behind to achieve silver with an overall score of four-under 138. Courtney Grace of Birmingham finished with a score of three-under 139, winning the bronze.

The 5th Alabama State 13 & Under Junior Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.  

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)  
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
