This marks the second consecutive year Bent Brook Golf Course has hosted the Alabama State 13 & Under Junior Championship. The inaugural Alabama Boys State 13 & Under Champion, Tyler Watts, claimed the title at Goose Pond Colony, setting a new course record in 2020 with his Final Round score of 11-under 61. Henry Brown of Mobile took home the 4th Alabama Boys State 13 & Under Junior Championship title with an overall score of seven-under 135.
Christine Chang of Auburn won the inaugural Alabama Girls State 13 & Under Junior Championship in 2020 at Valley Hill Country Club in Huntsville, Alabama, posting a six-over 150 to secure her title. Courtney Grace of Brimingham was crowned the 4th Alabama Girls State 13 & Under Junior Champion after carding an overall score of even-par 142.
Entries for the 5th Alabama State 13 & Under Junior Championships are open to any male or female amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club and qualifies under the following age requirements:
- 12-13 Age Division: Must have reached 12th birthday, but not 14th birthday, on or before July 24, 2024.
- 9-11 Age Division: Must have reached 9th birthday, but not 12th birthday, on or before July 24, 2024.
- 6-8 Age Division: Must have reached 6th birthday, but not 9th birthday, on or before July 24, 2024
- Male 9-13 Age Division: Yardage (Brook/Windmill): 5,505 yards, Course/Slope Rating: 65.5/112
- Male 6-8 Age Division: Yardage (Brook/Windmill): 4,057 yards, Course/Slope Rating: 60.4/99
- Female 9-13 Age Division: Yardage (Brook/Windmill): 4,943 yards, Course/Slope Rating: 67.9/118
- Female 6-8 Age Division: Yardage (Brook/Windmill): 4,057 yards, Course/Slope Rating: 62.8/108
- 36 holes of gross individual stroke play for players 9-13 Age Division.
- 18 holes (9 each day) for 6-8 Age Division.
- The lowest score for 36 holes in the Overall Division (9-11 and 12-13 Age Division) will be the Overall Champion.
- In the event of a tie for the Overall Championship only, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play. The playoff holes and their order of play will be determined by the Committee.
- Any other ties in all other divisions will be resolved by matching scorecards according to the USGA recommendation within the Committee Procedures of the Rules of Golf – “Matching Scorecards”
- Initial groupings will be for Round 1. Players will be re-paired by score for the Final Round.

7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.: Player Registration in the Clubhouse outside of the Pro Shop.
Wednesday, July 24
Round One: 8:00 a.m. tee times off of #1 & #10 tees.
Field re-grouped according to score.
Thursday, July 25
Round Two: 8:00 a.m. tee times off of #1 & #10 tees.
Awards Ceremony immediately following play.
The 5th Alabama State 13 & Under Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
