Round one results of the first Alabama Women's State Match Play Championship and the sixth Alabama Women's State Senior Match Play Championship will be held at Auburn University Club in Auburn, AL on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Frances Brown of Mobile leads the way in the first-ever Alabama Women’s State Match Play Championship, posting a three-under 69. Brown holds a one-stroke lead heading into Match Play tomorrow.
Gabriella Nicastro of Huntsville stands second with a two-under 70 to finish the day.
Within the Senior Championship Division, Defending Champion, Theresa Mahlik of Madison sits at the top of the leaderboard at five-over 77.
Lea Green of McCalla and Susan West of Tuscaloosa are T2, scoring six-over 78.
The Senior Tournament Division is led by Elizabeth Underwood of Auburn. Underwood finished the day with a score of 16-over 88.
Karen Moore of Auburn and Candy Mitchell of Springville are T2 each posting 17-over 89.
Eighteen holes of gross individual stroke play determine seeding within each division. The Championship Division will be cut to the low 16 players from the Stroke Play Qualifier that will compete for the overall Championship.
The remaining Championship Division players will play 36-hole matches in three-ball and head-to-head formats.
The Senior Championship Division will be cut to the low eight (8) players from the Stroke Play Qualifier that will compete for the overall Championship.
The remaining Senior Championship Division players will play a 36-hole match.
In the Senior Tournament Division players will have one flight of four (4) and a 36-hole three-ball match.
All players are guaranteed a minimum of two matches, due to consolation brackets for each flight.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
