Fifty-eight players competed in the final round today for the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship title.
Bailey Sutter of Cullman began the day tied for third with Thomas Crane of Mobile. Sutter finished with a four-under 68 for the day with six birdies, obtaining victory with an overall score of six-under 210.
“I hit my irons good,” said Sutter. “I think I hit all the fairways today, I putted pretty decent, but really just remembering who I play for is what kept me in it. All the work I’ve put in has finally paid off and it feels pretty good.”

Gus Darnall of Birmingham claimed silver with an overall score of two-under 214 after posting one-over 73 today with two birdies during his round.
Thomas Crane of Mobile took home third with one-over 217 overall, carding a three-over 75 today.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
