GLENCOE, AL (June 19, 2024) – Round Two results of the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by the RTJ Silver Lakes (Backbreaker/Heartbreaker) in Glencoe, AL on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Jon Ed Steed of Enterprise and Gus Darnall of Birmingham share the lead after Round Two of the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship with 36-hole scores of three-under 141. Steed shot one-over 73 with three birdies today. Darnall shot two-under 70 with three birdies in round two. They both stand one shot ahead of the competition.
“It was really windy and tough out there today,” said Steed. “Play was solid all around. Hit a lot of fairways. I kind of struggled towards the end, hit a double late. [I’m] Pretty excited for tomorrow, gonna have a good group.”
“I feel pretty good,” said Darnall. “I think I’m swinging it really well right now and playing well, but I just need to putt a little bit better tomorrow.”
Thomas Crane of Mobile and Bailey Sutter of Cullman stand T3 with a two day total of two-under 142.
The cut line fell at +13, with 58 players advancing to the Final Round.
The Final Round of the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship will begin at 7:00 a.m. off holes #1 and #10 on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

The 79th Alabama Alabama Boys State Junior Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
