This year marks the 79th playing of the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and the first time that RTJ Silver Lakes has hosted the Boys State Junior Championship. Michael Crocker, of Mobile won the title in 2023 at Goose Pond Colony Resort (Lake Course). The Championship was first played in 1946 with Walter Wood winning the inaugural event. Bobby Wyatt of Mobile holds the record with 4 victories (2007-2010).
Entries for the 79th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship are open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 8.9.

Championship Format:
• The field will be cut to the low 54 players and ties after 36 holes.
• The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion.
• In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play. The playoff holes and their order of play will be determined by the Committee.
• Initial groupings will be for two days; the field will be cut and re-paired by score after the second round.

All Day: Practice rounds. 7:30am-3:00pm: Player Registration in the Clubhouse Foyer adjacent to the golf shop.
Tuesday, June 18
Round 1: Tee times at 7:00am & 12:00pm off #1 & #10 tees.
Wednesday, June 19
Round 2: Tee times at 7:00am & 12:00pm off #1 & #10 tees. Cut to low 54 scores and ties. Field re-grouped according to score.
Thursday, June 20
Round 3: Tee times at 7:00am off #1 & #10 tees. Awards ceremony immediately following play at scoreboard.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. A full-time professional staff of seven individuals handles day-to-day activities.
Based in Hoover, the AGA is the USGA's Allied Golf Association in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the World Handicap System including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating, and Rules of Golf & Handicapping education. The AGA annually conducts 24 championships; team match competitions for men, women, junior and seniors; AHSAA high school golf championship and the SEC Men's Golf Championship. The AGA manages the Junior Golf Alabama program that is a joint venture between the AGA and Alabama-NW Florida PGA Section.
In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
