ONEONTA, AL (May 19, 2024) – Final results of the 27th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship and the 6th Alabama State Super-Senior Amateur Championship held at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, AL on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Heading into the final round of the 27th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship one-shot back, Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery fought his way atop the leaderboard to force a playoff against Chris Hummel of Birmingham. Both players made par on the first playoff hole. Making birdie on the second playoff hole, Pritchett became the back-to-back Alabama State Senior Amateur Champion.
"I put a lot of effort into this and was somehow able to keep my focus, keep calm and figure out a way to win it in the end," Pritchett said.
Chris Hummel took home second place (67, 72, 72) and Claud Cooper of Birmingham (73, 69,70) and Robbie Cotten of Brewton (72, 70, 70) both posted an overall score of 212 to finish T3.
After leading rounds one and two, David Hancock of Greenville claimed victory at the 6th Alabama State Super-Senior Amateur Championship. Hancock fired an impressive 54-hole total of 209 (67,70,72).
“Anytime you win any championship it feels great, but the older I get the more I appreciate it,” said Hancock.
Emile Vaughan of Pike Road finished second with an overall score of 213 (71, 70, 72). David Head of Sterrett, 2022 Alabama State Super-Senior Amateur Champion, posted an overall score of 214 (70, 72, 72) to finish third.
These tournaments are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.

In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
