POINT CLEAR, AL – (Oct. 12, 2023) The Alabama Golf Association’s 29th Alabama State Senior Four-Ball and 5th Alabama State Super-Senior Four-Ball Championships will be held at Lakewood Golf Club, in Point Clear, Alabama, from Oct. 13-15, 2023.

This year marks the twenty-ninth playing of the Alabama State Senior Four-Ball Championship and the fifth playing of the Alabama State Super-Senior Four-Ball Championship. This will mark the first time that Lakewood Golf Club has hosted either event.
Shaw Pritchett and Jeff Taylor captured the 28th Alabama State Senior Four-Ball title in 2023 at Valley Hill Country Club. The Championship was first played in 1995 with Tom O’Melia and John Pryor winning the inaugural event at Cotton Creek Club. Tom Jungkind of Hoover and Tom Davis of Hoover won the 4th Alabama State Super-Senior Four-Ball Championship in 2022 at Valley Hill Country Club.

Entries are open to sides of male amateur golfers who are legal residents of Alabama and have an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club. Maximum allowable combined team handicap is 16.8 under the USGA Handicap System™. Two players who play as partners comprise a side. Partners are not required to be from the same club. Both members of the side must have reached their 50th birthday by October 13, 2023.
Championship Yardage: 6481 yards (36-36–72)
Course/Slope Rating: 68.5/126
Format:
• 54 holes of gross four-ball stroke play.
• The field will be cut to the low TBD sides and ties after 36 holes.
• The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for first place in the Championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play. The playoff holes and their order of play will be determined by the Committee.
• Initial groupings will be for two rounds; the field will be cut and repaired by score after the second round.
5th Alabama State Super-Senior Four-Ball Championship
Entries are open to sides of male amateur golfers who are legal residents of Alabama and have an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club. Maximum allowable combined team handicap is 20.8 under the USGA Handicap System™. Two players who play as partners comprise a side. Partners are not required to be from the same club. Both members of the side must have reached their 65th birthday by October 13, 2023.

Format:
• 54 holes of gross four-ball stroke play.
• The field will be cut to the low TBD sides and ties after 36 holes.

9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.: Player Registration in the clubhouse foyer.
Friday, October 13
Round 1: Morning tee times at 7:30 a.m. off #1 and #10.
Saturday, October 14
Round 2: Morning tee times at 7:30 a.m. off #1 and #10.
Field cut to low TBD sides and ties for final round.
Field regrouped according to score.
Sunday, October 15
Final Round: Tee times at 7:30 a.m. off #1 & #10 tees.
Awards ceremony immediately following play.
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
