Musgrove Country Club to Host 91st Alabama Women's State Amateur Championship & 5th Alabama Women's State Senior Match Play Championship
JASPER, AL (July 10, 2023) – The Alabama Golf Association’s 91st Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship and 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Match Play Championship will take place at Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, AL, July 11-13, 2023. This week, 34 players will compete for the Women’s State Amateur title. There will be four golfers playing in the Women’s State Senior Match Play Championship Division and 11 golfers within the Tournament Division.

This year marks the second time that Musgrove Country Club has hosted the Women’s State Amateur and the first year it has hosted the Women’s State Senior Match Play Championships.

Hartwiger of Birmingham captured the 4th Alabama Women’s State Senior Match Play Championship title at Mountain Brook Club in Birmingham in 2022.

The 91st Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship entries are open to any female amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club.
The 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Match Play Championship entries are open to any female amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club. Players must have reached their 50th birthday by July 11, 2023. There will be two divisions: Championship and Tournament. Players must select their division during online registration.

Format:
18 holes of gross individual stroke play to
determine seeding within each division. Championship Division will be cut to low 16 players from the stroke play qualifier that will compete for the overall championship. Remaining Championship Division players will be divided into flights of four (4). Tournament Division players will be divided into flights of four (4) to compete at match play based on qualifying round score. All players are guaranteed a minimum of two matches due to consolation brackets for each flight.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
