Tyler Watts of Huntsville maintained his Round Two lead and bogey-free streak to sit atop the leaderboard into the Final Round. Watts sits seven strokes ahead of the competition with a total score of 15-under. Remaining bogey-free through 54 holes, Watts has dominated on the green and in the fairway.
“It [playing with Watts] was incredible. It honestly made me pretty mad a couple of times. At #15, I remember he hit a five-wood into a par three quite a bit closer than me and Josiah did and at that point I didn't know rather to love him or hate him,” said Ryley Heath.
“He couldn’t really miss today,” added Josiah Gilbert.
Ryley Heath of Decatur carded 67 for the day and sits in second place at eight-under for the week. Josiah Gilbert of Millbrook sits just one stroke behind Heath with a Round 3 score of 68.
Haymes Snedeker posted the low score of Round Three, carding six-under 64. Snedeker is T9 and one-under for the week.
Tomorrow, players will return to play the final 18 holes of the Championship and a champion will be crowned. The Final Round of the 107th Alabama State Amateur Championship begins Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at 7:30 a.m. off holes #1 and #10.
