GULF SHORES, AL (September 15, 2019) – Final results of the 1st Alabama State Mixed Team Championship hosted by Kiva Dunes in Gulf Shores, AL on Sunday, September 15, 2019. (Par 36-36—72).
In the Amateur Division, Reagan Waggoner of Bessemer – Victor Kyatt of Birmingham birdied the first playoff utilizing the modified alternate shot format to win the title over Cole Kamyati - Lauren Gilchrist of Spanish Fort. Kamyati and Gilchrist birdied three of their last four holes to force the playoff. In the playoff, both teams had 15 foot birdie attempts. Gilchrist was the first to putt and her effort just missed on the left. Waggoner’s putt found the right side door to win the championship. Both teams finished at 138 (-6).
In the Senior Division, Chris and Kathy Hartwiger of Birmingham carded a final round 74 to finish at 146 (+2) and win by five shots over Richard Harwell of Gulf Shores and Sha Carter of Foley. This is the 19th AGA title for Kathy Hartwiger and first for her husband Chris.

The Alabama State Mixed Team Championship is competed over 36 holes using two different scoring formats. Saturday’s round one format is four-ball stroke play and round two on Sunday is modified alternate shot stroke play.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals.
