Michaela Morard, 2019 Alabama Girls State Junior Champion at Goose Pond Colony Resort
Scottsboro, AL - Third round results of the 56th Alabama Girls State Junior Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Goose Pond Colony Resort in Scottsboro, AL on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 (Ages 12-13: 5385 yards, par 36-36--72, 70.5/116; Ages 14-18: 5974 yards, 72.6/120.)

Michaela Morard of Huntsville fires a final round four-under par 68 to defend her title and claim the 56th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship. Morard used an impressive four-under par 32 on the back nine to run away from the field.
With the victory, Morard now shares the state record for most Girls State Junior Championship titles with Martha Lang, who is currently a member of the USGA executive committee. She will have the opportunity to close out her junior career in sole possession of the record at Valley Hill Country Club next summer, which is Morard’s home club.
Erika Allen of Berry carded a final round score of even par 72 to finish second place.
Ally Williams of Athens, third place, shot a final round two-over par 74 to finish third place.
Virginia Anne Holmes of Montgomery, shot three consecutive rounds of 76 for an overall score of 12-over par 228 to win the 14-15 Age Division.
Molly Brown Davidson of Birmingham shot a final round two-over 74 to close out a wire-to-wire victory in the 12-13 Age Division.
Entries are open to any female amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club and qualifies under the following age requirements:
- 12-13 Age Division: Must have reached 12th birthday, but not 14th birthday, on or before June 24, 2019.
- 14-15 Age Division: Must have reached 14th birthday, but not 16th birthday, on or before June 24, 2019.
- 16-18 Age Division: Must have reached 16th birthday, but not 19th birthday, on or before June 24, 2019.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service.
AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education. The AGA annually conducts 20 championships and team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. The AGA also conducts Alabama high school golf championships and assists with many collegiate events including the SEC Men's Golf Championship. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation.
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
