GlenLakes Golf Club's Par 4 14th Hole
HOOVER, AL (April 16, 2019) – GlenLakes Golf Club in Foley will host the Alabama Women’s State Senior Amateur Championship for the third time on April 17-18, 2019.
33 players are scheduled to compete in the 46th edition of this championship. Two new changes were introduced for this year’s championship. The event format was reduced from 54 holes to 36 holes along with the addition of a stand-alone Women’s State Super-Senior Amateur Championship that will be played concurrently with the Women’s Senior Amateur. 12 players will compete for the inaugural Super-Senior title.
The 2018 championship was not played. Susan West of Tuscaloosa enters this year’s event riding a three year win streak. She won the championship in 2015 at GlenLakes Golf Club, 2016 at Timberline Golf Club and in 2017 at Grayson Valley Country Club.
The Championship was first played in 1973 with Ceil Watkins winning the inaugural event. Mary Isbell holds the record with 8 victories (1995-1999, 2001-2003).

Awards will be presented to the top scores in Championship, Super-Senior and Tournament Divisions. In addition, the overall Champion will have her name engraved on the permanent trophy housed at the AGA office.

Championship History
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education.
