Defending champion Stewart Whitt of Athens led wire-to-wire to win his second consecutive Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship title. The 34-year-old posted a final round one-under 71 for a 207 (-9) total that was five shots clear of Trip Smalley of Mobile.
“I played well all week. Obviously started well with a 64 on the first day. And then was pretty steady the next two days. It’s really cool to win this thing twice in a row,” Whitt said.
There was a four-way tie for third place at 213 (-3) with Clay Guerin of Hoover, Matt Johnson of Dothan, Steve Muncher of Birmingham and Sam Audia III of Birmingham.
