Defending Champion Stewart Whitt of Athens Holds 36-Hole Lead
ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Round two results of the 30th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Willow Point Golf and Country Club in Alexander City, Ala. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 (7067 yards, par 36-36—72, 73.4/128).

Defending champion Stewart Whitt of Athens posted an even par 72 to take a two stroke lead into the final round at Willow Point. His eight-under 136 total is two shots ahead of Alan Coshatt of Birmingham. Coshatt carded a one-over 73--138. Three strokes back is Scott Barranco of Montgomery at 139 (-5) who posted the low round of the day with four-under 68.
The field was cut to the low 60 scores and ties for the final round. Cutline fell at eight-over par 152 with 67 players advancing to Sunday.

- 13 players are under par through 36 holes with field average score of 77.09
- 68 (-4) was the low round of the day carded by Scott Barranco of Montgomery
- 302 birdies and 3 eagles posted in round two

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education. The AGA annually conducts 13 championships and team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. The AGA also conducts Alabama high school golf championships and assists with many collegiate events including the SEC Men's Golf Championship. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation.
