Hunter Battles of Tuscumbia Holds 36-Hole Lead
Foley, Ala. – Round two results of the 73rd Alabama Boys State Junior Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by GlenLakes Golf Club in Foley, Ala. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 (6840 yards, Par 36-36 – 72, Rating: 73.2/132).

The 73rd Alabama Boys State Junior Championship continued today at GlenLakes Golf Club. The hot, humid weather was met with occasional afternoon light rain for the second round.
Tuscumbia’s Hunter Battles shot a two-over par 74 to hold a two stroke lead at heading into Thursday’s final round. His round consisted of an eagle and four bogeys. Battles will play in the final championship group tomorrow teeing off at 8:50 a.m. from the first tee.
Nicholas Dunlap of Birmingham posted the lowest score of the day with a four-under par 68 to move into second place. He had a total five birdies today with three of them on the front nine. His 36-hole total of 140 is two shots back of Battles.
Defending champion Padraic Sim of Spanish Fort is tied for fourth place at 143 (-1).
Christopher Yielding of Birmingham continues to lead the 12-13 age division following a one-over par 73 (147). Yielding made one birdie and two bogeys today stretching his lead to nine strokes.
The 8-11 age division is tied after 18 holes with Spanish Fort’s Michael Larson and Birmingham’s Jackson Skinner both standing at 90 (+18). This age division plays nine holes each day. The 8-11 age division will tee off at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning off the first tee.
The overall championship division (Ages 14-18) was cut to the low 60 scores and ties. The cut line fell at 157 (+13) with 61 players advancing to the final round.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education. The AGA annually conducts 13 championships and team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. The AGA also conducts Alabama high school golf championships and assists with many collegiate events including the SEC Men's Golf Championship. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation.
