Burningtree Country Club
BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 14, 2018) – The Alabama Golf Association announced today that Burningtree Country Club in Decatur will serve as the new host site for the 18th Alabama State Match Play Championship. Championship is scheduled for August 2-5. Registration for this year’s championship is open until July 24.
Entries are open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 8.4.
Burningtree is a George Cobb design that opened in 1967, has held multiple State Championships and USGA qualifiers and is the host of the Spirit of America Golf Classic.
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service.
