JUPITER, FL (October 21, 2017) – Day one results of the 16th Men’s Southeastern Challenge Match hosted by The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, FL on Saturday, October 21, 2017 (Amateurs 7104 yards, par 36-36—72; Seniors: 6618 yards, par 36-36--72).
Teams representing Alabama, Florida and Georgia stood tied with three points apiece following the morning four-ball session.
In the afternoon Foursomes session, Georgia took control of the matches winning 10 out of 12 possible points. Alabama and Florida each scored four points finding themselves six points back heading into Sunday’s three-ball matches. 36 points are available in the three-ball session.
Men’s Southeastern Challenge Match, a biannual event, format consists of 18 holes of match play with Four-Ball, Foursomes, and three-ball (singles) match play sessions. Each match is worth 1 point. Half point to each side for a tie. Each state competes against the other two states in an equal number of matches. This invitation only event is comprised of a select group of seven mid-amateurs (age 25+), one amateur (age 21+) and four seniors (age 50+) selected by each state golf association.
The event rotates between the three states with Georgia set to host in 2019 and Alabama in 2021.
