MONTGOMERY, AL – Final results from U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifying hosted by Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery, AL on Thursday, September 14, 2017 (6420 yards, par 35-35—70, Course/Slope Rating: 70.5/122).
Four qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.
Bart Barnes of Troy, AL carded a four-under 66 to take medalist honors. Clay Guerin of Hoover, AL and Matt Robbins of Cumming, GA both posted two-under 68 to earn qualifying spots.
There was a three-for-one playoff at 69 for the last qualifying spot and two alternate positions. Matt Johnson of Dothan, AL made par on the first playoff hole to earn the last spot. Phillip Weaver of Tuscaloosa, AL is the first alternate and Taylor Cooksey of Tifton, GA is the second alternate.
The four qualifiers advanced to the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Capital City Club in Atlanta, GA on October 7-12.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education. The AGA annually conducts 12 championships and team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors.
