BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Alabama Golf Association will conduct the 27th Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship at NorthRiver Yacht Club June 12th to June 14th.
This is the first time that NorthRiver Yacht Club has hosted the Women’s Stroke Play Championship. Last year, Michaela Morard of Huntsville won by three shots over Cammie Gray of Northport at TP Country Club in Cullman. Morard is in the field to defend her title this week. Other defending champions in the field include Elaine Wood of Spanish Fort (2015) and Cammie Gray of Northport (2012 & 2013).
42 players are scheduled to compete in this year’s championship (33 in the Championship Division, 4 in the Tournament Division and 5 in the Senior Division).
Championship Format
54 holes of gross individual stroke play. The lowest score for 54 holes in the Championship Division will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play. The playoff holes and order of play will be determined by the AGA. Any other ties in all other flights, will be resolved by matching scorecards according to the USGA recommendation shown in Appendix I of the current Rules of Golf, How to Decide Ties. Tournament and Senior Divisions are flighted after 36 holes by score (if necessary). Initial groupings are for round one; field is re-paired by score after each round.
Awards
Awards will be presented to the top scores in each Division after 54 holes, as well as the overall Champion. Low Mid-Amateur in the Championship Division will be awarded. In addition, the Champion will have her name engraved on the permanent trophy and may take possession of the trophy for the ensuing year.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals.
