BESSEMER, AL – Third round results of the 101st Alabama State Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Bent Brook Golf Club in Bessemer, AL on Saturday, June 10, 2017 (7337 yards, par 36-36—72, 74.6/132).
UAB senior Taylor Eyster of Birmingham fired a third round four-under 68 to share the 54-hole lead with Wes Carter of Helena who carded a five-under 67 to stand at 206 (-10) heading into the final round.
36-hole leader Ryan Mayberry of Birmingham posted a three-over 75 to fall into a tie for ninth position.
Defending champion Turk Pettit of Auburn fired six-under 66 to move into a tie for sixth place at 208 only two shots back.
32 players are under par through three rounds with an average score of 72.13 on Saturday.
Final round starting times begin at 7:30am on Sunday at Bent Brook.
Alabama State Amateur Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 8.4.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education. The AGA annually conducts 12 championships and team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors.
