OPELIKA, AL – Second round stroke play qualifying results of the 35th Alabama State Four-Ball Championship hosted by Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, AL on Friday, May 5, 2017 (6946 yards, par 36-36—72, 73.2/136).
Despite the less than ideal playing conditions, two teams managed to post 36-hole totals of 12-under 132 to share medalist honors. Round one leader Vic Kyatt III of Birmingham - Andy McRae of Hoover carded a three-under 69 while Ty Thompson of Point Clear - Jordy Hayden of Fairhope posted the low round of the day with a six-under 66. Using a blind draw, Kyatt-McRae is the number one seed for match play while Thompson-Hayden will fill the number two seed.
Conditions certainly affected scoring with the average score in round two being 1.2 shots higher than round one at 72.1.
After 36-holes of four-ball stroke play the field was cut to the low 16 teams for match play. The cut line fell at three-under 141 with 16 teams advancing to match play without any playoffs.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service.
