Three-time Champions, Tom Jungkind of Hoover (L) and Mike Greer of Birmingham (R) Holds 36-Hole Lead
Tuscaloosa, AL - Second round results of the 22nd Alabama State Senior Four-Ball Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Ol’ Colony Golf Complex in Tuscaloosa, AL on Saturday, October 15, 2016 (6442 yards, par 36-36—72, 71.2/129).
Three time champions Tom Jungkind of Hoover & Mike Greer of Birmingham followed their first round 65 with an eight-under 64 for a two day total of 129 (-15) and a three shot lead going into Sunday’s final round.
First round co-leaders Robert Nelson of Fairhope & Walker Grant of Montgomery are in second place at 132 (-12) after a 68 (-4) while Kevin Newton of Birmingham & Charles Noto of Birmingham shot 71 (-1) to slip into a tie for fifth at 135 (-9).
Defending champions Del Wood III of Vestavia Hills & Doug Davis of Birmingham are tied for eleventh with two other teams at 138 (-6).
Championship format is 54 holes of Four-Ball Stroke Play, 18 holes daily on October 14-16, 2016. Due to the field size, there will not be a 36 hole cut implemented this year. Awards will be presented to the low three teams. In addition, the Champion will have their name engraved on the Bob Phillips Trophy housed at the AGA office.
The Alabama State Senior Four-Ball Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 50th birthday by October 14, 2016, is a legal resident of Alabama, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club with a combined team handicap that does not exceed 16.8.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama.
