Richard Jeffers of Mobile, AL Claimed Medalist Honors with a two-under par 69
MOBILE, AL – Final results from U.S. Senior Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifying hosted by The Country Club of Mobile in Mobile, AL on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 (6597 yards, par 35-36—71, Course/Slope Rating: 72.0/124). Two qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site. Richard Jeffers of Mobile, AL carded a two-under 69 to take medalist honors. Jeffers is a member of Country Club of Mobile and was the 1997 Alabama Men’s State Amateur Champion. There was a three-for-one playoff at 70 for the last qualifying spot and two alternate positions. Thomas Brennan of Covington, LA birdied the first playoff hole to earn the last qualifying spot. Hamp Andrews of Daphne, AL is the first alternate and Claud Cooper of Birmingham, AL is the second alternate. The two qualifiers advanced to the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis, MO on September 17-22.
