MONTGOMERY, AL – Final results from U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifying hosted by Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery, AL on Monday, August 8, 2016 (6420 yards, par 35-35—70, Course/Slope Rating: 70.5/122).
Four qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.
Jackson Beindorf of Birmingham, AL carded a five-under 65 to take medalist honors. Addison Lambeth of Browns Summit, NC posted a three-under 67 to earn the second qualifying spot.
There was a four-for-two playoff at 68 for the last two qualifying spots and two alternate positions. John Barnett of Nashville, TN and Matt Gourgeot of Decatur, AL survived the playoff to earn the last two qualifying spots. Hank Lamberth of Alexander City, AL is the first alternate and Richard Douglas of Mountain Brook, AL is the second alternate.
The four qualifiers advanced to the U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship at Stonewall Links in Elverson, PA on September 10-15.
