ONEONTA, AL – Final results from U.S. Open Championship Local Qualifying hosted by Limestone Springs in Oneonta, AL on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 (6890 yards, par 36-36—72, Course/Slope Rating: 73.6/138).
Four qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.
Samuel Love of Trussville, AL carded a course record 11-under 61 to take medalist honors. Love made eight birdies and holed a 2-iron hybrid from 262-yards on the par five second hole for a double eagle.
Matt Nagy of Buena Vista, GA and Brian Maurer of Richmond, IN each posted a five-under 67 to advance to sectionals.
There was a three-for-one playoff at 68 for the last qualifying position. Chip Deason of Evans, AL birdied the first playoff hole to claim the spot.
The four qualifiers advanced to sectional qualifying that will be played at 12 sites located throughout the U.S. (10 sites) and internationally in England (1) and Japan (1).
