Willow Point Golf and Country Club: Host of the 6th Southeast Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship

ALEXANDER CITY, AL (Aug. 22, 2024) – The Alabama Golf Association will host the 6th Southeast Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Willow Point Golf and Country Club in Alexander City, AL, from Aug. 23-25, 2024.

This year marks the sixth playing of the Southeast Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Willow Point Golf and Country Club.
 
Will Hanna of Peachtree Corners, GA and Kyle Hammond of Johns Creek, GA won the Championship title in 2023 within the Mid-Amateur Division. Carter Mize of Columbus, GA and Mat Mize of Columbus, GA won within the Senior Division in 2023 and will return this year to defend their title.
 
Championship Facts

Mid-Amateur Division
Entries are open to sides of male amateur golfers who have an active USGA Handicap Index® issued through a USGA Allied Golf Association. Maximum allowable combined team handicap is 8.8 for the Mid-Amateur Division. Two players who play as partners comprise a side. Partners are not required to be from the same club or state. Both players must have reached his 25th birthday by August 23, 2024.

Course/Slope Rating:  74.2/130

Format:  
  • 54 holes of Four-Ball stroke play. Field will be cut to low 30 scores and ties after 36 holes. Number of sides making the cut is calculated based upon the percentage of sides in each division compared with the total field.
  • In the event of a tie for first place in the Mid-Amateur or Senior Division, a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play. The play-off holes and their order of play will be determined by the Championship Committee. All other ties will be split equally. 
  • Initial groupings will be for the first two rounds; the field will be cut and re-paired by score after the second round.  
 
Senior Division
Entries are open to sides of male amateur golfers who have an active USGA Handicap Index® issued through a USGA Allied Golf Association. Maximum allowable combined team handicap is  12.8 for the Senior Division. Two players who play as partners comprise a side. Partners are not required to be from the same club or state. Both players must have reached his 50th birthday by August 23, 2024.

Awards ceremony immediately following play.

This tournament is conducted by Willow Point Golf and Country Club and the Alabama Golf Association. 

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
