Robillard & Hummel Victorious at State Match Play & State Senior Match Play Championships

ANNISTON, AL (August 11, 2024) – Final results of the Alabama Golf Association’s 23rd Alabama State Match Play and 4th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships hosted by Anniston Country Club in Anniston, Alabama, from August 8-11.

The 23rd Alabama State Match Play and 4th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships continued on today as the semifinalists and finalists from each Championship battled this morning and afternoon.

Nick Robillard of Birmingham claimed the 23rd Alabama State Match Play Championship title, winning 1 up against Ty Cole of Albertville in the final match.

“I came into the week with not much preparation,” Robillard said. “But I'm extremely thankful to have closed it out.” 

Chris Hummel of Birmingham claimed the 4th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship title, winning 2 & 1 against Robbie Cotten of Brewton in the final match.

The morning began with the semifinal matches at 7:30 a.m.

In the State Match Play semifinals, Nick Robillard defeated Will Patrick of Oneonta 1 up.

Ty Cole defeated Blake Watts of Fort Payne 8 & 6.

In the State Senior Match Play semifinals, Robbie Cotten defeated Robert Nelson of Fairhope 2 up.

Chris Hummel defeated Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery 2 & 1.

These Championships are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association. 

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 28,000 individuals. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors. AGA staff also administers day-to-day operations of the Elite Amateur Golf Series.
