CAMDENTON, MO – Day one results of the 7th Southern Junior Cup hosted by Old Kinderhook in Camdenton, MO on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 (Par 35-36—71).
The seventh playing of the Southern Junior Cup Matches began on Wednesday in Camdenton, MO at Old Kinderhook. Defending champion Alabama (9 points) trails Arkansas (10 points) by one point after day one. Host Missouri is in third place with four points followed by Mississippi with one point.
24 points are on the line during the Thursday’s singles matches that will determine the Southern Junior Cup champion.
Southern Junior Cup format consists of 18 holes of match play with Four-Ball, Foursomes, and singles match play sessions. Each match is worth 1 point. Half point to each side for a tie. Each state competes against the other three states in an equal number of matches. Four-Ball and Foursomes partners consists of one male and one female sides, while individual matches pits male vs. male and female vs. female. This invitation only event is comprised of a select group of six female juniors and six male junior players selected by each state golf association.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education. The AGA annually conducts 13 championships and team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. The AGA also conducts Alabama high school golf championships and assists with many collegiate events including the SEC Men's Golf Championship. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation.
