DECATUR, AL – First round results of the 9th Alabama Women’s State Four-Ball Championship hosted by Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, AL on Thursday, September 15, 2016 (5250 yards, par 36-36—72, 70.3/121).
Ally Williams of Athens and Jordan Susce of Birmingham fired a bogey free five-under 67 to take a two stroke lead after the first round.
Five teams are within five shots of the lead. Defending champion Michaela Morard of Huntsville playing with new partner Mychael O’Berry of Hoover carded a three-under 69 to hold a share of second place with Lucie King of Tuscaloosa and Lea Green of McCalla. Micheala Williams of Athens was unable to defend with Morard due to playing college golf this fall at University of Tennessee.
The field was divided into flights for round two based on round one scores. Flight breakdown by score: Championship (67-72), First Flight (74-81), Second Flight (83-87), Third Flight (90-105).
The championship format is contested over 36-holes of four-ball stroke play with the final round set for an 8:30am shotgun start at Burningtree Country Club.
