The Alabama Golf Association Player of the Year Awards are determined by the number one ranked individuals on the respective Alabama Amateur Player Rankings at the end of each calendar year. Rankings are also used to select teams for the bi-annual Men’s & Women’s Southeastern Challenge Matches.

The AGA is the USGA's allied golf association in Alabama to deliver core services and conduct National Championship Qualifying. To apply to play in USGA Championships, individuals must first create a USGA Championship Account.

The Southeast Mid-Amateur Four-Ball Championship format is 54 holes of Four-Ball stroke play, including Mid-Amateur and Senior Divisions. Hosted by Willow Point Golf & Country Club on the shores of Lake Martin, this annual event attracts top amateur players from across the country. Registration opens in late May.

The Alabama Cup highlights competition between two ten-player teams selected by the Alabama Golf Association (Amateur Team) and the PGA Alabama - NW Florida Section (Professional Team).

Founded in 1902, the Southern Golf Association annually conducts the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship. The Alabama Golf Association staff oversees and manages Southern Golf Association operations in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors.
